Location Data (optional)
If you enable Location Services (including “Always Allow” on iOS), Wauw may use your device’s location in the background to detect when you arrive at a selected gym and send a reminder to start a workout. This permission is optional and can be disabled at any time in iOS Settings. We do not store your precise location history on our servers.
Health Data (Apple Health / HealthKit, iOS only)
If you grant permission, Wauw may read selected HealthKit data (such as body weight and body fat percentage) to display trends and comparisons in the app. Wauw may also write data to Apple Health, such as workout sessions (start and end time, duration, and type) and user-entered measurements (e.g., body weight, body fat percentage).
Health data is processed on your device and is not stored on our servers or shared with third parties. We do not use Health data for advertising, marketing, or profiling.
3. How We Use Your Data
We process your data to:
- Operate and improve the service.
- Provide optional gym arrival reminders when you enable location access.
- Display Apple Health measurements and write user-entered measurements back to Apple Health when you choose to use HealthKit.
- Personalize content and recommendations.
- Enable social sharing and interactions.
- Ensure security and fraud prevention.
- Analyze marketing performance and user acquisition trends.
- Comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
4. Authentication & Security
- iOS Users: We use token-based authentication with secure storage via Apple Keychain.
- Android Users: We do not support Android.
- Data Security: Encryption, access controls, and secure hosting infrastructure (Hetzner, AWS, Cloudflare).
5. Sharing & Visibility of Public Content
By posting public content, you agree that:
- Anyone using Wauw can view and share your content.
- Wauw may feature your content in the app, promotions, or social media.
- Other users may share your public content outside Wauw.
6. User Responsibilities & Consent
When sharing content, you:
- Must obtain consent from individuals appearing in your videos.
- Confirm that individuals under 16 have parental approval.
- Are responsible for any privacy violations caused by unauthorized sharing.
7. Premium Privacy Features
- The “Only You” privacy setting (premium feature) allows private video storage.
- Wauw encourages public sharing to foster community engagement.
- Private storage has resource costs and is part of our premium model.
8. Ad Tracking & Opt-Out Options
- Wauw uses Facebook SDK, Google Analytics, and Firebase for personalized ads and tracking.
- Branch.io tracks deep links for marketing-driven app installations (opt-out not supported).
How to Opt Out of Tracking
- iOS Users: Disable tracking in Settings > Privacy > Tracking and reject tracking when prompted.
- Manage ad preferences in Facebook’s privacy settings.
